Inholdings and Adjacent Properties 2012

Category Overview

State Parks grants help preserve and develop our state’s best outdoor recreation areas by funding new campgrounds and amenities to increase the capacity of our parks, creating new parks, improving park resources, and protecting historical areas. These grants help our state continue to develop our world-class parks system to share our cultural heritage and natural treasures with all of its visitors.

Project Highlights

State Parks will use this grant to acquire a 3 inholdings at Penrose State Park totalling approximately 1 acre, and a 3 acre inholding at Iron Horse State Park (Palouse). This grant will also be used to acquire other high-priority properties within or adjacent to existing state parks, with RCO approval. Acquiring park inholdings will enable State Parks to better manage the parks and protect their long-term boundaries and operations. The primary recreation opportunity provided by this project is public access.
