Category Overview
State Parks grants help preserve and develop our state’s best outdoor recreation areas by funding new campgrounds and amenities to increase the capacity of our parks, creating new parks, improving park resources, and protecting historical areas. These grants help our state continue to develop our world-class parks system to share our cultural heritage and natural treasures with all of its visitors.
Project Highlights
Every biennium, opportunities arise for State Parks to obtain small, relatively low cost properties, typically less than $100,000. Receipt of this grant will allow acquisition of properties that may be key to protecting or enhancing an existing park. These parcels are typically too small to compete effectively as an individual acquisition. Previous acquisitions have obtained valuable additions to existing parks, alleviated the risk of neighbors converting adjoining land to uses incompatible with park purposes, and improved access to park land. This fund may acquire properties at Bottle Beach, Cape Disappointment, Dugualla or Flaming Geyser State Parks.
