Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
This project will develop Phase 2 Park Elements at the City of Spokane Valley’s Greenacres Community Park. Phase 2 will add a Tennis court, 6 Pickleball courts, two Hoopfest-style basketball courts, a community garden, new shade structures and shade trees and a backstop. This project will also expand the existing playground and splash pad, add 17 new parking spaces, pave an existing perimeter path, and renovate the existing disc golf course to create a 3-hole introductory course with practice green. The primary outdoor recreation opportunity provided by this project is active recreation.
