State Parks grants help preserve and develop our state’s best outdoor recreation areas by funding new campgrounds and amenities to increase the capacity of our parks, creating new parks, improving park resources, and protecting historical areas. These grants help our state continue to develop our world-class parks system to share our cultural heritage and natural treasures with all of its visitors.

Project Highlights

This project consists of the second phase of the Cama Beach acquisition, in Island County, including a property donation equal to the value of purchase. The Phase 2 site has one mile of sand and gravel beachfront. Fishing, shellfish gathering, environmental programs, camping, retreat, dining/conference, and day use areas will be developed for future recreational uses.

Location Details

Camano Island is accessed by a Highway 532 from Interstate 5 at Stanwood. Follow the highway west across a bridge onto Camano Island. Signs direct you to Camano Island State Park. The entrance to Cama Beach is located 3/4 mile north of Camano

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
