The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.

Project Highlights

Development of a community park on donated land adjacent to the K-12 school. Park development included paths, parking, irrigation, soccer/softball fields, basketball court, tennis court, children’s play area, picnic area, storm drainage, and earth work.

Location Details

From the Orcas Island ferry landing, take Horseshoe Highway to Eastsound. Turn north on North Beach road and East on Mt Baker Road. Buck Recreational Park is on the south side of the road.

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
