Big Valley Parking and Trailhead Improvements

Category Overview

The State Lands Development and Renovation category provides funding to two state agencies to repair, renovate, and develop outdoor recreation facilities on existing recreation lands. As the popularity of outdoor recreation increases in our state, these grants help address overcrowding, ensure our outdoor amenities are safe for public use, improve visitor experience, and allow more people to enjoy our great outdoors.

Project Highlights

The Department of Fish and Wildlife will use this grant to improve the recreational trailhead area at the Big Valley Unit of the Methow Wildlife Area, located in Okanogan County. This project will expand the parking area and enhance the Big Valley trailhead. Development activities include road grading, improved signage and maps, installation of informational kiosks, new picnic tables, expanded parking with barrier rocks, hitching posts, snow plow bump-outs and new ADA parking and bathroom facilities. The primary recreation opportunity provided by this project is non-motorized trail recreation.
