Liberty Lake Regional Park Phase 1

Category Overview

Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.

Project Highlights

This grant paid for the design, permitting, and construction of several improvements to Liberty Lake Regional Park. These improvements included: – New beach access road (approx. .25 miles) where there is parking for people to drop off their kayaks or picnic supplies, along with ADA parking stalls that provides direct access to the beach. The construction of the drop off area included a large precast retaining wall. Lights were also installed along the drop off drive. – One new accessible group picnic shelter. – One new accessible shade structure. – A new accessible dock that has an ADA kayak launch and a dedicated fishing area that is also accessible. – An accessible sidewalk that connects the ADA parking to the dock. – A new CXT restroom that has four single occupancy stalls, two drinking fountains, and two outdoor showers. – Bioswale infiltration units – The relocation of a water line and part of a sewer line. – A new kiosk and park signage.
