The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.

Project Highlights

The City of Vader used this grant to develop 0.62 acres at J.K. Werden Memorial Park. The project included design and construction of a playground, looped concrete walking pathway, shaded picnicking area, fencing, parking lot, entrance sign, benches, trash cans and landscaping. The primary outdoor recreational opportunity provided by the project is active play. This park development has become a important area to our immediate and local small communities. It provides a local and safe place for families of diverse abilities to gather and play. It also has successfully promoted a healthy and active lifestyle.

Location Details

The property is approximately four miles off I5 in Vaders town center. Located of HWY 506, at the corner of 6th and A Streets, Werden Park can be easily accessed from A Street and rear 6th Street alley.

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
