Republic Skatepark

Category Overview

Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.

Project Highlights

This grant from RCO was used for the acquisition costs associated with transferring donated land to the City of Republic (Surveying, Property Line Adjustments, Deed, Appraisals, Cultural Resources and Environmental Impact Assessment) and for the development of a professionally designed and built concrete public skatepark. The skatepark is located adjacent to the Golden Tiger Pathway entrance and across from the Republic School Complex. The park includes areas for all skill levels and has proven to be tremendously popular with the community. The park is open to skateboards, in-line skates, rollerblades, scooters, MBX bicycles, and wheelchairs. The developed parking area includes an ADA van parking spot and a paved ADA access path. Due to a significant increase in costs during COVID we submitted a scope change to bring the project back within budget. The RCO board of directors approved delaying the seating and shade structures until phase 2 of the project to help with this cost overrun. The concrete pads for the seating areas have been installed.
