Category Overview
Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
The City of Wenatchee used this grant to help fund the acquisition of three separate parcels of land totaling over 450.28 acres on the southwest edge of the City. The properties are adjacent to the Saddle Rock Regional Park. The trails and surrounding property provide year-round access for trail use outdoor education, and habitat preservation. The primary recreation opportunity provided by this grant is nonmotorized recreation including hiking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, snowshoeing, and mountain biking.
