The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
The City of Bridgeport plans to complete the Phase 1 renovation of Berryman Park. This phase is comprised of replacing outdated playground equipment, restrooms, picnic shelter and sports court and construction of connecting ADA pathways, associated lighting and parking improvements. The existing amenities, particularly the restroom, picnic shelter and play equipment have exceeded their lifespan and need to be replaced to maintain safety and functionality.The existing playground equipment has been evaluated for risk potential and will be removed and replaced with resilient ground surfacing installed as appropriate. The existing sports court will be resurfaced and striped for multiple courts sports including basketball, pickle ball and tennis and the existing fencing renovated/replaced. The new addition to the park under Phase I is the construction of an ADA compliant pathway connecting each of the amenities as well as a new ADA parking space. The final piece will be the installation of a new entry sign and an interpretative sign documenting the history of the park and describing the various pieces of equipment contained in the static display of military hardware that is a prominent feature of the park.Phase 2 of the project entails an analysis of the existing swimming pool and bath house and development of a plan for the renovation and/or replacement of this vital community asset.
