Category Overview
Conserving land along our waterways protects important habitat and helps keep our rivers healthy, clean, and more resilient to drought. Riparian Protection projects conserve and restore fresh and saltwater habitat while protecting fish habitat. In doing so, the grants help provide our families, farms, and fisheries with clean water across the state.
Project Highlights
State Parks will use this grant to acquire 30 acres approximately 2 miles south of the Port Townsend city center on the western shores of Port Townsend Bay. This acquisition will add and protect approximately 1000 feet of saltwater shoreline to Old Fort Townsend State Park. In addition to preserving Riparian Protection on Port Townsend Bay, this acquisition will provide opportunities for walking, wildlife viewing and possibly camping.
