Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.
Project Highlights
The Seattle Parks and Recreation Department will use this funding to expand capacity at the Green Lake Small Craft Center (GLSCC). This project replaces the existing main dock at GLSCC with a larger dock with two floats, joined by a single gangway, renovates two existing park restrooms, and creates two restrooms with showers. This project supports larger redevelopment at GLSCC, which includes the rest of the new two-story Boathouse building. The primary recreational opportunities provided by this project include non-motorized paddling craft, such as kayaks and canoes.
