Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.
Project Highlights
Seattle Parks and Recreation will use this grant funding at Terry Pettus Park to enhance shoreline access, add landscaping features that improve lines-of-sight and to replace the failing retaining walls, seating, and dock located on East Lake Union. Grant funds will also support parking and pathway improvements connecting the Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop Trail and ADA accessibility to the shoreline and dock. The primary recreational opportunities supported by this project include picnicking, water access, and nonmotorized boating.
