Category Overview
Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.
Project Highlights
Castle Rock used this grant to extend the Riverfront Trail by approximately 0.5 miles, added lighting to the extension and to a portion of the existing trail, constructed a fishing platform at river’s edge, and a parking area. The 10-foot-wide paved trail is primarily along the top of the Cowlitz River levee and passes through several neighborhoods and parks. The trail provides active recreation primarily through walking and bicycling.
