Category Overview
Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.
Project Highlights
The City of Castle Rock will construct approximately 8,000 feet of asphalt trail on a levee along the Cowlitz River. The trail will be 8′ wide in most places, 6′ wide where site constraints dictate. A 300′ boardwalk will be constructed around the Rock, addressing a pressing safety issue. A paved access road and gravel parking lot will be developed for 20 vehicles at the Northwest Trailhead. Two ramps will provide additional access, one at Schintaffer Road and one near the north end of the Rock.
