Category Overview
State Parks grants help preserve and develop our state’s best outdoor recreation areas by funding new campgrounds and amenities to increase the capacity of our parks, creating new parks, improving park resources, and protecting historical areas. These grants help our state continue to develop our world-class parks system to share our cultural heritage and natural treasures with all of its visitors.
Project Highlights
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will use this grant to purchase high-priority properties within or adjacent to the boundaries of existing state parks. It is intended to be a flexible source of funding for smaller, lower-cost, priority property acquisitions. It will allow State Parks to act quickly and opportunistically to purchase inholdings or adjacent properties as they come on the market, and it will facilitate the purchase of smaller properties that are essential to park operations. The primary opportunity provided by this project is outdoor recreation.
