Category Overview
Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
The Town of Wilkeson, with the aide of some very generous volunteers, have successfully completed the needed upgrades for Roosevelt Park. These upgrades consisted of creating 2 separate play spaces for 2 age groups, to encourage many years of active play. For safety, a thick layer of engineered wood fibers were installed around the new equipment. We have installed ADA sidewalks so that people of all ability may easily get around our park, and created parking areas with designated Handicap Parking stalls. The fields have been leveled in needed areas to ensure visitor safety and all field obstructions have been removed.
