Category Overview
Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
The City of Mossyrock will use this grant to acquire 29.26 acres of property for future development into a community park named Klickitat Prairie Park. The property is centrally located within the City of Mossyrock near the community center and government offices. Currently, the property is a large parcel of undeveloped land, with flat open meadow to the North and a perennial stream that bisects the property on the South. By acquiring this property, Mossyrock will be able to establish it’s first community park. Future development will be phased and may include a skate park, walking trails, meadow for informal games, picnic shelters, restroom, parking area, community gardens and playground equipment. The primary recreation opportunity provided by the project will be a mix of passive and active outdoor recreation.
