Willapa Hills Trail Bridge 43 Improvements

Category Overview

State Parks grants help preserve and develop our state’s best outdoor recreation areas by funding new campgrounds and amenities to increase the capacity of our parks, creating new parks, improving park resources, and protecting historical areas. These grants help our state continue to develop our world-class parks system to share our cultural heritage and natural treasures with all of its visitors.

Project Highlights

Washington State Parks will use this grant to make improvements to Bridge 43, near Menlo, on the Willapa Hills State Park Trail. This project will replace the rotted wood decking and railroad ties with concrete decking, metal and wood safety rails, and bollards. Additional work will also be done to replace the abutment wall and make any necessary foundational repairs. The primary recreation opportunity improved by this project is non-motorized trail use.
