Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
Pierce County Parks and Recreation is requesting funds to add an additional sports facility to our existing 40 acre active portion of Sprinker Recreation Center. The IAC funds will be used to construct a 25,000 square foot concrete skate park. The proposed skate park will be state of the art, providing both street and free form courses. The park will provide a separate skate area for those who are learning to skate. Bleachers will be provided for special skateboard events and contests. The park is designed to provide challenges for all skill levels ranging from beginners to the professional. The beginners will have their own area. Recreation features included in the skate area is a family activity area with shade structures, picnic tables and other seating, ADA pathway, seating including bleachers for viewing contests.
