Spokane River Centennial Trail Renovation Phase 2

Category Overview

Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.

Project Highlights

Washington State Parks will use this grant to renovate and reconstruct 2.8 miles of the Spokane River Centennial Trail through the scenic lower Spokane River Gorge. This will include trail resurfacing, renovation of the Military Cemetery Trailhead, reconstructing approximately 440 linear feet of retaining wall supporting the trail, and habitat, accessibility, and viewpoint enhancements along a popular section of this 40-mile State Park Trail. The primary recreation opportunity enhanced by this project will be non-motorized trail use.
