Leyendecker Access Area Redevelopment

Category Overview

The State Lands Development and Renovation category provides funding to two state agencies to repair, renovate, and develop outdoor recreation facilities on existing recreation lands. As the popularity of outdoor recreation increases in our state, these grants help address overcrowding, ensure our outdoor amenities are safe for public use, improve visitor experience, and allow more people to enjoy our great outdoors.

Project Highlights

The Department of Fish and Wildlife will use this grant to redevelop the Leyendecker Access Area in Clallam County on the Bogachiel River. This site was previously developed with RCO funds in 1975, making this project a reinvestment in an existing RCO-funded site. The scope of this project is to renovate the site to meet or exceed all accessibility standards by installing a new CXT style toilet with designated disabled parking, install an ADA loading platform, install a new ramp in a better suited location, and remove hazard trees. The primary outdoor recreation opportunities provided at this location include launching of fishing and recreational vessels, bank side river fishing, wildlife viewing, and photography.
