Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
This project includes acquisition and initial development of a 120-acre community park and sports complex located at the NE corner of Vancouver’s urban growth boundary. The primary focus of this project is youth sports fields. Over 30,000 people live in the Hockinson Meadows Service Area. This project will provide a complex of baseball/softball and soccer fields. Other improvements will focus on families with pre-school and school-age children, who may be attending sports events or who otherwise wish to use this park. Facilities will include picnic tables, a shelter, play equipment, and trails.
