Foothills Trail Development 252nd Ave-Mud Mtn Rd

Category Overview

Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.

Project Highlights

King County DNR and Parks used this grant to construct Segments A and C of the Foothills Regional Trail. This consists of a 0.9-mile-long trail development in Enumclaw along a former rail corridor from 252nd Ave SE, southwest across Boise Creek, to SE Mud Mountain Road. The scope of the project also included renovation of the existing historic bridge over Boise Creek, the relocation of an existing driveway to ensure continued access to a residential adjoining property, and mitigation planting as required by permit. This project helped allow King County DNR and Parks to provide non-motorized access to a multi-use trail corridor, connecting the communities of Puyallup, McMillin, Orting, South Prairie, Buckley and Enumclaw in Pierce and King Counties. The primary recreation opportunity provided by this project is non-motorized trail use.
