Project Highlights

This Des Moines Sports Park project will acquire 15.22 acres of land. The proposed acquisition site is the last undeveloped property in Des Moines large enough to accommodate an active recreation facility. Future development plans include sports fields, sports courts, perimeter walking trail, a concession, restroom and maintenance building, play equipment, picnicking and adequate parking.

Location Details

Des Moines Sports Park is located in the City of Des Moines on the west side of I-5 mid point between Seattle and Tacoma, approximately 2 miles south of SeaTac Airport. Access to the site is from I5 and Pacific Highway South. Take the Kent Des Moines exit off I5, turn right onto Pacific Highway South, turn left on South 216th Street, turn left on 24th Avenue South. The property is on the west side of 24th Avenue South, north of South 220th Street.

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
