The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.

Project Highlights

The City of Covington used this grant to construct a community park, located within the City of Covington. This project met the high priority recreation needs of a young and growing community by expanding the trail system, adding a multi-purpose sports field, and providing a location for community events. This project allowed the City to develop a multi-purpose sports field, provided parking, trail development and provided two ADA portable toilets. The primary recreation opportunity provided by this project is for general outdoor recreation.

Location Details

From the South: from I-5 Northbound, take the exit for SR 18. Stay on eastbound 18 for approximately 11 miles, exiting at SR-516 and SE 272nd Street. Turn right and travel east on 272nd to Wax Rd. Turn left onto Wax Rd. and, after .4 miles, turn left again onto 180th Ave SE. Travel north on 180th Ave until it deadends at SE 240th Street. The park site is located at the southwest corner of this intersection. From the North: from 405 take SR 167 south. At about 5 miles, take the 84th Ave S/ N Central Ave exit. Turn left onto 84th Ave S and stay on this street for .9 miles. Turn left onto SE 240th Street and travel east on 240th for approximately 4.5 miles. The site will be to your right as you approach the intersection of 240th and 180th Ave SE.

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
