Cape Disappointment Acquisitions 2003

Category Overview

State Parks grants help preserve and develop our state’s best outdoor recreation areas by funding new campgrounds and amenities to increase the capacity of our parks, creating new parks, improving park resources, and protecting historical areas. These grants help our state continue to develop our world-class parks system to share our cultural heritage and natural treasures with all of its visitors.

Project Highlights

This goal of this project is to purchase approximately 20 acres of uplands in the vicinity of the Beard’s Hollow area of Cape Disappointment State Park. State Parks has recently acquired approximately 80 acres of dune area and uplands and has additional opportunities to protect the viewshed. State Parks may acquire property outside the viewshed, which would serve as a new location for administrative and maintenance shops, a visitor contact point and park shuttle bus station.
