Beacon Rock: Hamilton Mountain Trail Re-Route

Category Overview

State Parks grants help preserve and develop our state’s best outdoor recreation areas by funding new campgrounds and amenities to increase the capacity of our parks, creating new parks, improving park resources, and protecting historical areas. These grants help our state continue to develop our world-class parks system to share our cultural heritage and natural treasures with all of its visitors.

Project Highlights

Washington State Parks will use this grant for improvements on the Hamilton Mountain Trail at Beacon Rock State Park. The project will develop approximately a half-mile of safe trail that will link the Hamilton Mountain Trail to the Hardy Creek Trail and replace a steep, unsafe casual trail currently being used by hikers. Completion of this trail development will allow for restoration to take place where casual trails have negatively impacted the natural landscape. The primary recreation opportunity supported with this project is passive trail use.
