Category Overview
Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.
Project Highlights
With support from this award, WDFW acquired 103.20 acres in Pacific County on May 13, 2022. Funding from this award also supported some preliminary weed control and posting of signs. This same property is the subject of a current development grant, Nemah Tidelands Entrance Development, 22-1436, to construct a parking lot and enable access of the site. Remaining funds in this award are planned to be moved to the development grant so that post-acquisition incidentals (gate and kiosk installation, fencing and rock barriers, etc.) can be finalized after the parking area construction is completed.
