Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.
Project Highlights
Phase I of the Race Street Trail constructed a 0.65-mile ADA accessible multi-use trail connecting the Olympic National Park Visitor Center to the intersection of 8th and Race Street in a north-south direction. Thirty-three solar powered trail lighting poles were installed, 0.76 acres of landscaping features including 3,109 native plants and trees were installed along the trail. A pedestrian 300-ft barrier wall was constructed to protect trail users from vehicular traffic.
