Category Overview
The State Lands Restoration and Enhancement category provides funding to two state agencies to help repair damaged plant and animal habitat. These grants focus on resource preservation and protection of public lands. Projects in this category help bring important natural areas and resources back to their original functions by improving the self sustaining and ecological functionality of sites.
Project Highlights
WDFW staff installed and wove 47 beaver dam analogs with in the 0.5 miles of riparian area along Scotch Creek. Weave material primary fir boughs and limbs were cut and collected off the Chopaka unit and hauled down to the project area. six high fence enclosures were constructed to protect approximately 700 deciduous plants from browsing. Areas with the highest water table and the ability of the plants roots to reach moisture were planted. Approximately 10 acres of upland was planted to native grasses. We also hosted four educational events in the project area for local 5th graders.
