The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.

Project Highlights

Benton City will use this grant to construct a community Splash Park including a water loop set, dumping bucket, and water rings. Project includes a restroom, furnishings, two picnic shelters, ADA path, and parking. The primary recreation opportunity provided by this project is active play.

Location Details

From Interstate 82, exit #96 to Benton City. Take the Roundabout exit that leads across the Kiona Bridge north toward Benton City. Follow SR 225 (1st Street, then turns right and becomes Horne Road) . Travel through downtown and past the High School. The site will be on right side of Horne Road between Karen Avenue and Neptune Drive. Once the subdivision is developed, access to the park will be from 14th Street. Once roads are built, to reach the park you will continue north on Horne past the park site, turn right on Neptune Drive, then right on 13th, right on Mary Avenue and left on 14th Street to reach the park.

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
