Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
The City of Camas seeks funding to develop Phase One of Crown Park Master Plan with key features including: an interactive water play feature, inclusive play areas, new restroom, ADA access and pathways and some site furnishings within the Phase One improvement area. Donated to the City in 1934, Crown Park is a 7.3 acre aging, developed park comprised of mature fir trees, a picnic shelter, two play areas, a basketball half court, two tennis courts, and Scout Hall. It is also the Community’s gathering space, especially for summer events such as concerts and movies. As a legacy park for the Camas community, the park is ready for a rejuvenation. It is located in a residential neighborhood on the north side of downtown Camas. In 2018 the City completed the Crown Park Master Plan for future improvements to the site. It was an iterative process that took place over the course of two years and reflects a collaborative effort between city staff, volunteer advisors, the community to create a long-term vision that supports a wide range of active and passive activities for people of all ages and abilities.
