Category Overview
Farmland Preservation protects valuable farmland and habitat for recreationally important animals, like salmon, birds, deer, and elk. These projects allow families to continue farming the land they have worked on for generations, and provide Washingtonians with healthy local food and a diverse economy. WWRP is the only source of farmland preservation funding in the state budget.
Project Highlights
This project funded a purchase of an agricultural conservation easement on 260 acres of a 400-acre hay and cattle farm north of Ellensburg. Triple Creek Ranch has been owned by the same family for 68 years. The current owner’s son has plans to continue farm operations upon inheritance from his elderly parents, all of whom live on the property together. The project area includes the farmstead, rich Riparian Protection in Upper Wilson Creek, and senior water rights.
