Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.
Project Highlights
This is a shoreline acquisition project involving 8 acres of upland and tidelands on Puget Sound in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood. The property that has become available includes extensive shorelines for water access and aquatic recreation. It is easily accessible by bike, car, and bus as it is just a mile north of downtown. The surplusing of this prime land by the Port of Seattle represents an extremely rare opportunity to significantly increase water access for Seattle residents and visitors.
