Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.
Project Highlights
Work completed includes: Demolition of structures, Shoreline and habitat restoration, shoreline public access incl. public swim beach, pedestrian pier, small non-motorized boat launch, new parking areas and parking improvements, site grading including poured-in-place and rock terrace retaining walls, ravine and daylighted channel construction, utility infrastructure incl. stormwater, sewer, water and electrical systems, 2ea viewing platforms and 3ea viewpoint, children’s play area, benches, pathways concrete and crushed rock, 20foot wide promenade, beach house building with restrooms, changing rooms and life guard facilities, lawn areas and meadow hillside, and native plantings. Work was completed in accordance with scope outline in grant.
