Category Overview
Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.
Project Highlights
Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife used this grant in cooperation with the City of Edmonds to renovate and update the fishing pier and its support amenities. This included renovated or new handrails, lighting, weather shelters, fish cleaning stations, decking and the pier concrete structural pile support systems. The pier is now ready for many more years of use. The primary recreational opportunities provided by this project is fishing, crabbing, squidding, wildlife viewing, and water viewing.
