Category Overview
Urban Wildlife Habitat projects fund close-to-home places to play and explore nature. As our urban areas are increasingly expanding and densifying, these grants protect important fish and wildlife habitat within five miles of densely populated areas, creating green refuges that help keep our ecosystems healthy and provide places to enjoy nature right in our backyards.
Project Highlights
The City of Wenatchee will use this grant to acquire 383.1 acres located northwest of the city limits. The property consists of shrub steppe habitat and mixed conifer forestlands that supports a diverse community of wildlife. The primary purpose of the project is for habitat protection and the primary outdoor recreation opportunity provided is for non-motorized recreation including hiking and wildlife viewing.
