Urban Wildlife Habitat projects fund close-to-home places to play and explore nature. As our urban areas are increasingly expanding and densifying, these grants protect important fish and wildlife habitat within five miles of densely populated areas, creating green refuges that help keep our ecosystems healthy and provide places to enjoy nature right in our backyards.

Project Highlights

King County purchased 350 acres of riverfront, wetlands, and uplands at the confluence of the three forks of the Snoqualmie River, approximately one mile north of North Bend. Project area provides outstanding undisturbed Riparian Protection supporting a wide variety of wildlife species. Project complements North Bend/Snoqualmie’s Meadowbrook Farm project nearby.

Location Details

Proceed west of city of North Bend on North Bend Way to north on Meadowbrook Way to right on Reinig Rd to trailhead across street from resident at 42320 SE Reinig Rd. Site also accessed from Snoqualmie Valley Trail Bridge (old railroad bridge).

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
