Category Overview
Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.
Project Highlights
Clallam County will use this grant to acquire approximately 196 acres for use as a trail corridor between the City of Forks and the Quileute Tribal Nation community of La Push. The 135-mile Olympic Discovery Trail begins in Port Townsend on the east side of the Olympic Peninsula and this acquisition will provide the final approximately 12-mile western terminus. The primary recreation opportunity provided by this project is long and short distance bicycle riding, walking/jogging, and equestrian use.
