Category Overview
Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.
Project Highlights
State Parks used this grant to construct a 2-mile long, 10-foot wide paved trail extension from Spokane’s popular Centennial Trail that was planned and designed through a previous RCO grant. This trail segment links Avista Utilities’ Nine Mile Resort on Lake Spokane with the existing 37-mile Spokane River Centennial Trail and Spokane County’s Sontag Park. The primary recreation opportunity provided by this project is non-motorized trail use.
