Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.

Project Highlights

Purchased approximately three-fourths of a mile of trail corridor along the Green River. Horseshoe Bend will connect with the City of Kent’s Green River Trail properties through Kent. Once completed, the trail system will traverse from Duwamish Head in Seattle through Tukwila, Renton, Kent, and Auburn to Flaming Geyser State Park.

Location Details

Project site is located adjacent to the south city limits of Kent. Proceed east on S 266th from Auburn Way to south on Central Place S and street end. Green River Trail access at this point offers view of site across river at Horseshoe Bend.

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
