Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.

Project Highlights

This proposal improves and increases public access to a 36.5-mile segment of the John Wayne Pioneer Trail, from Cedar Falls to Cabin Creek, crossing near Snoqualmie Pass. It opens additional bridges and bypasses, unsafe features left from railroading. Elements include: trailhead access, snowshed bypass, safety barriers, bridge decking, and abutments.

Location Details

In King and Kittitas Counties just off I-90. This segment begins at Cedar Falls and runs for 36.56 miles east to Cabin Creek. Cedar Falls Trailhead: exit 32 off I-90 - proceed East on Cedar Falls Rd for approx 6 miles to recreation area.

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
