Category Overview
The State Lands Development and Renovation category provides funding to two state agencies to repair, renovate, and develop outdoor recreation facilities on existing recreation lands. As the popularity of outdoor recreation increases in our state, these grants help address overcrowding, ensure our outdoor amenities are safe for public use, improve visitor experience, and allow more people to enjoy our great outdoors.
Project Highlights
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) used this grant to construct the beginnings of a nonmotorized trail system in the Reiter Foothills Forest, located in eastern Snohomish County off of Highway 2. The trails are located in the NW portion of the forest, extending from Reiter Road working north towards a connection with Wallace Falls State Park. This project constructed a hiking, mountain biking and equestrian multi-use trail and a mountain biking only trail and installed two major trail bridges.
