Category Overview
The State Lands Development and Renovation category provides funding to two state agencies to repair, renovate, and develop outdoor recreation facilities on existing recreation lands. As the popularity of outdoor recreation increases in our state, these grants help address overcrowding, ensure our outdoor amenities are safe for public use, improve visitor experience, and allow more people to enjoy our great outdoors.
Project Highlights
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will use this grant to replace the dock on Lake Terrell, a popular warm water fishing spot that sees 25,000 user-days annually. An improved fishing pier would reduce conflicts between anglers and boaters using the boat dock, and provide a fishing facility accessible to people with disabilities. Work will include removing a small restroom and a 36-year-old float and installing a new parking area, toilet, and fishing pier. The new parking lot will reduce congestion at the boat launch and be adjacent to the new pier. The new pier will nearly double the available fishing area. The local bass club has volunteered to assist in removal of the old float. Project included: 1. Removal of old fishing float and piling 2. Removal of old fiberglass toilets 3. Installation of gravel parking area. 4. Installation of paved parking and walkway. 5. Installation of stormwater improvements (bioswale) 6. Installation of Kiosk and parking signs 7. Installation of fishing pier with steel piles, framing, railing and grated deck.
