Project Highlights

The project agreement description is amended to reflect RCFB approval of a partial conversion of 5.59 acres. The RCFB approved the conversion and replacement under Resolution #2017-26. The conversion area includes a portion of the landscaping and lawn area funded by this grant. The facilities developed remain intact in the project area. The remaining 26.4 acres within the project area boundary for Chesterley Park is depicted on the LWCF 6(f) boundary map signed by the city on September 15, 2017, and by RCO on September 26, 2017. The replacement property (Congdon) project area boundary is depicted on the LWCF 6(f) boundary map signed by the city on September 15, 2017, and by RCO on September 26, 2017. Original project agreement description: The Chesterley Park Expansion project includes development of two soccer fields, a skate park, additional parking and landscaping. This 30.8-acre park is located in the northwest portion of the city of Yakima. Currently, 18.3 acres are developed at this site. Development includes four soccer fields, restrooms, picnic shelter, playground, parking and landscaping. This proposal is to develop the remaining 12.5 acres into two additional soccer fields, a skate park, 118 additional parking spaces and landscaping. IAC funds were used to help purchase this property in 1975. The City of Yakima passed a parks bond in 1988 that allocated funds for first phase development.
