Twisp Park Playground & Basketball Court

Category Overview

Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.

Project Highlights

The Town of Twisp is working on developing our Twisp Park into a full service recreational area. The Town is looking to enhance this area by renovating our existing playground and basketball court which will add to our pool, band shelter, and picnic shelter. Our current playground and basketball court are inadequate and unsafe and do not meet the needs of our community. Our playground has several drawbacks as it does not meet current safety requirements, it is small and it is not age appropriate for a toddler population, it does not have an ADA accessible pathway from the parking lot which the Town will include in this project. Our basketball court which is utilized heavily during spring and summer has a cracked surface. The Town would like to construct a new playground that would be age appropriate for toddler to school age children which will stand up to our cold winters. Our basketball court wold be resurfaced with a rubberized material that would be more safe and functional. The winter months with snow sitting on the courts for long periods of time has created the cracked surface despite our annual maintenance efforts.
