Category Overview
Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
This 67-acre site is located approximately one (1) mile south of Interstate 5 on the southeastern corner of the intersection of Marvin Rd SE and Steilacoom Road. The site is a prime site for an estimated seven soccer fields and five baseball/softball fields, restroom facilities, trails, picnic area and other support facilities for a regional sports complex. The site is close in proximity to the Nisqually Middle School and the privately-operated Bucknell Athletic Park. The project is a partnership between Thurston County and the City of Lacey, both sharing the cost of acquisition, development, and operation equally. Project meets demands for additional athletic facilities as defined by both the County and City Comprehensive Park Plans.
