Category Overview
Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
Kitsap County will use this grant to purchase 3.6 acres of Navy housing property for the future Kingston Village Green Park in downtown Kingston. The county owns 10 acres of a reclaimed wastewater treatment site, which surrounds the Navy property. A small stream traverses the western edge of both the county and Navy property. The future park will contain ball fields, grass play areas, play equipment, tennis courts, a skateboard park, and walking paths. Kitsap County will contribute $954,500 in cash and a federal grant.
